Winter Servicing Packages

Winter servicing is always recommended, as this tends to be a quieter time of year for people using their machines. This means that our workshop turnaround times are usually lower, and there is also a less-desperate need for you to have the machinery back, as its often too cold or wet to cut the grass. For robotic mowers and automowers, we also offer winter servicing & storage of your machine during the colder months, and can then arrange collection or delivery of it back to your house for re-installation for the new cutting season.

Our Collection and Drop-Off Service

Our collection and drop-off service is paid-for on top of our servicing charges, and is very reasonably priced. We will collect your garden machinery from your home and return it to you when the repairs are complete.

How Quickly We Process Services and Repairs

We aim to process all services and repairs as quickly as we can. For more complex repairs, it may take longer depending on parts availability. It can also take us longer to process some services & repairs during busier times of year. All jobs are booked in chronologically as we see this as the fairest way to process jobs and make sure no job is left behind. If something is an extremely quick fix, we will try to help while you wait but this can never be promised. We keep thousands of spare parts on the shelf ready to be immediately installed, but with the wide range of machines available over the years unfortunately we cannot keep all of them! In the instance that we have to order parts for a repair, they are usually available fairly quickly. We will keep you updated on the progress of your repair and let you know when it is ready to be collected.

Garden Machinery Servicing & Repair FAQs

We are always happy to answer any questions you may have about our services, but we have aimed to answer some of the more popular queries here:

  • Do I have to pre-book a service or repair?
  • No, you can just drop in, however if you are able to call us this always helps so that we know you are coming.
  • Do I have to have bought the machine from Winchester Garden Machinery?
  • No, as long as the machine is a brand we are a dealership for, we can service & repair it.
  • What information do I need to bring?
  • We will ask for as much information as you can give us like age of the machine, serial number, & what the fault is. We may also ask if something in particular has happened to cause the fault.
  • How much does a service cost?
  • This is very dependent on what type of machine it is, what scale of service or repair is needed, and what parts are required. Almost every job is different so we cannot promise a fixed price from the start. We do have "standard" service costs for two-stroke tools, walk-behind lawn mowers, ride-on mowers & robotic mowers, however these exclude labour time, any additional parts & VAT. Until we have stripped each machine down we do not know if a machine will need any further work.
  • How long does a service take?
  • This varies depending on the time of year and also varies depending on parts availability. If we have to order parts this can take a little while. Winter tends to be our quietest time, so if you are looking to get a service done quickly, it may be best to wait until winter then give us a call.
  • How do I arrange collection & delivery of a ride on mower for service and/or repair?
  • Please contact us HERE to arrange this. Please note collection & delivery is an additional cost on top of the service price.
  • How can I prevent common problems to avoid costly repairs?
  • One of the biggest pitfalls with petrol-powered garden machinery is old or stale fuel. Modern E10 fuel at the pumps starts to "go off" after around 2-3 weeks. Always use fresh fuel in your machines, and drain it out before long periods of storage. To read more about E10 fuel, CLICK HERE to read our article on E10 fuel & its effects in garden machinery. We also recommend regularly checking wearing parts like fuel & air filters to make sure they are clean. Servicing once a year is also recommended, but this may not be essential if you only use a machine a few times per year.
