20-year warranty:

"All axes from Gränsfors Bruk come with an extended 20 year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Each axe is carefully inspected before it is sold. Despite this, there may be anomalies that are not visible or that have not been noticed before the axe left the factory. In order that these defects do not impinge upon you as a customer, Gränsfors Bruk gives a 20-year warranty on the different parts of the axe against defects that are directly linked to manufacturing.

  1. For your Gränsfors axe to be covered by the 20-year warranty, you will need a valid proof of purchase from a recognised dealer of Gränsfors Bruks axes. The proof of purchase is your warranty document.
  2. If your axe has a manufacturing defect, you will need to contact your dealer, i.e. the store listed on your proof of purchase. There they will help you with the rest of the process to assert your warranty claim.

Craftsmanship, normal wear and maintenance:

Gränsfors Bruk’s 20-year warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, faults caused by improper use or lack of maintenance.

Craftsmanship:

Gränsfors Bruk’s axes are handcrafted and each axe is unique. Since all axes are hand-forged, the appearance of the axes may differ. For example, there can be marks after the forging or some variations in the shape and dimensions. This is however something we are proud of. These natural variations are not classified as manufacturing defects, but rather a hallmark of your axe being shaped by a human hand.

Axe-head:

The axe’s head is made of steel which means that it is sensitive to moisture that can cause your axe to rust. Be sure to always wipe your axe-head after use and lubricate it with oil.

The axe’s edge is sensitive to strikes by hard materials like stone. Always be sure not to use the axe in such a way that the edge can hit stone or other hard materials. Improper use may result in the steel edge get chipped.

No axe from Gränsfors Bruk can be used as a hammer/sledgehammer, except the Gränsfors Bruk Splitting Maul. Improper use may result in that the axe’s eye deforms or cracks.

Axe-handle:

The axe’s handle is made of wood which is a “living” organic material. The axe-handle will shrink or expand depending on its moisture content. It is of the utmost importance that the handle is oiled regularly and that the axe is stored in a neither too dry nor too damp surrounding.

The axe-handle is considered to be a wear-and-tear item, which in case of the continuous use of the axe will need to be replaced over time. The axe-handle is not covered by the extended 20-year warranty.

Edge guard

The axe’s edge guard is made of leather. Leather is an organic material that will be affected by moisture. Always be sure that the edge guard is dry before putting it on the axe. Regularly lubricate the edge guard with grease to increase resistance to moisture.

The edge guard is considered to be a wear-and-tear item, which in case of the continuous use of the axe will need to be replaced over time. The edge guard is not covered by the extended 20-year warranty."
