The History of Timberwolf Woodchippers

The story of Timberwolf woodchippers, a leading name in the arboricultural and ground care industries, is a testament to British innovation and engineering. The company's journey began not under the Timberwolf name, but as Entec Industries, founded in 1986 by John Marshall in Suffolk, England. His mission was to design and manufacture professional-grade woodchippers that would meet the specific needs of arborists and landscapers, who were looking for more efficient and reliable alternatives to the bulky machinery available at the time.

Timberwolf's first groundbreaking product was a 6-inch, gravity-fed woodchipper known as "The Chippit." This machine was a game-changer for the UK market. At a time when many chippers were difficult to transport, "The Chippit" was designed to be compact and highly maneuverable, making it an ideal tool for tree surgeons and contractors working in confined spaces or urban areas. Its durable design and efficient performance quickly earned it a reputation for reliability and power, helping Entec Industries establish a strong foothold in the industry.

This early success led to rapid growth and further innovation. In 1992, the company revolutionized the industry again with the launch of the first commercially designed 6-inch hydraulic feed woodchipper under 750kg. This product, also released under the Entec name, set a new standard for performance and portability, proving that powerful arboricultural machinery could be both compact and user-friendly.

The name "Timberwolf" was officially adopted in 1999, as the brand’s reputation for rugged, high-performance equipment grew. The business continued its expansion, moving to a larger, purpose-built factory in Stowmarket, Suffolk, in 2002 to meet increasing demand. From these humble beginnings in a small farm workshop to becoming the UK's largest seller of commercial woodchippers, Timberwolf's history is rooted in a commitment to solving the practical problems faced by professionals and creating powerful, reliable machines that get the job done. Today, the brand's legacy of innovation continues across its diverse range, including road towable, tracked, and gravity fed woodchippers, designed to meet the needs of every job.
