The STIHL BRA 500 is a professional battery-powered backpack leaf blower designed to deliver petrol-equivalent performance with the convenience of cordless operation. Part of the STIHL AP System, it is powered by two AP batteries that drive a high-output 72-volt motor, producing a maximum blowing force of 32 newtons – comparable to the STIHL BR 600 petrol backpack blower.
Built for the most demanding commercial applications, the BRA 500 is ideal for clearing large parks, paths, streets, sports grounds and public spaces. Its high blowing force easily shifts heavy and wet leaves, grass cuttings, hedge trimmings and debris. Like all STIHL AP System tools, it features constant power output, ensuring full performance is maintained throughout the entire battery charge.
Despite a working weight of 14.5 kg with two AP 500 S batteries, the BRA 500 offers excellent balance and operator comfort. The motor and batteries are positioned close to the user’s back, improving weight distribution and reducing fatigue during long working periods. This design represents a significant improvement over traditional petrol backpack blowers. The comfortable padded carrying system, shared with the STIHL BR 800, further enhances all-day usability.
The BRA 500 also benefits from STIHL’s advanced noise reduction technology. A low fan RPM combined with effective sound insulation significantly reduces high-frequency noise, making this cordless backpack blower suitable for use in noise-sensitive environments such as schools, parks and residential areas.
An integrated aluminium base tube improves durability and makes transporting the blower to and from vehicles easier. The electronic control handle allows quick selection between Low, Mid, High and Boost modes, while displaying battery charge status, cruise control, connectivity and diagnostic information. STIHL Connected is built in as standard. An optional adjustable round nozzle is available separately, allowing users to switch between maximum air volume and maximum air speed depending on the task.
The STIHL BRA 500 must be operated with two AP batteries and cannot be used with a single battery. For maximum runtime and professional use, STIHL recommends pairing the blower with two AP 500 S batteries.
